November 21, 2003 TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Commissioner Dean C. Plaskett, Esq., of the Department of Planning and Natural Resources (DPNR) is pleased to announce the availability of $189,224.00 in the form of grants to perform non-point source (NPS) pollution control and mitigation projects. These grants, ranging from $10,000 to $50,000, are funded through Section 319 of the Clean Water Act for educational projects, demonstration and other Best Management Practices (BMPs) in the priority watersheds. Priority watersheds are defined as those not meeting, or facing imminent threat of not meeting, clean water standards or other natural resource goals. Two (2) public meetings are scheduled to explain the grant application process. DPNR - Division of Environmental Protection staff and the Territorial Non-point Source Pollution Committee members will be present to entertain questions. Other important dates for the 319 grant are as follows: January 30, 2004 Pre-proposal submittal, Applicants will be notified of acceptance no later than February 16, 2004, the complete proposal must be submiited by April 2, 2004, and completion of signing the Memorandum of Agreement contract with DPNR by May 2, 2004.
